A passenger plane bound for the Dominican Republic caught fire immediately after landing in the US city of Miami yesterday.
All people on board Red Air Flight 203 have been brought to safety, the US broadcaster NBC reported. Accordingly, there were 126 passengers and crew members on the plane. Three were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, according to ORF.
According to the Miami airport, the front chassis of the machine had collapsed. A fire then broke out. Video footage showed flames and black smoke rising immediately after the plane landed. The Miami Fire Department extinguished the fire. Some flights were delayed as a result of the incident.
Red Air is still a relatively new airline based in the Dominican Republic and is particularly interesting for tourism on the Caribbean island. The machine had started in the capital Santo Domingo.
