Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) has presented its summer flight schedule for 2026, which includes a significant increase in capacity and the integration of new destinations.
From the end of March, a total of ten airlines will serve twelve different destinations. A key component of this realignment is the cooperation with Cologne-based airline Leav Aviation. The company will act as the new home carrier at the airport and will station an Airbus A320 at Münster Osnabrück Airport (FMO). This will enable the first regular flights to Fuerteventura and Rhodes, as well as expand capacity to Crete. The local base will allow for more attractive early morning departure times on these routes.
In the area of tourist charter traffic, demand for destinations around the Mediterranean remains consistently high. The connection to Antalya, in particular, is heavily served: up to seven daily flights by carriers such as SunExpress, Corendon, and Pegasus ensure a high degree of flexibility for package holidaymakers. Mallorca also remains a key pillar of the flight schedule with five daily rotations operated by Ryanair, Eurowings, and Condor. The offering is complemented by Ryanair connections to Málaga, Alicante, Corfu, and Zadar, as well as the route to Pristina, which has been successfully operated by GP Aviation for the past five years. For city breaks, the connection to London Stansted remains a core part of the portfolio.
A strategic focus remains on connecting to the international air transport network via the Munich hub. Lufthansa operates this route four times daily. Current analyses show that over 40 percent of passengers on this route transfer to long-haul flights in Munich. To improve connectivity, flight times have been optimized, thereby reducing transit times to global metropolises such as New York, Shanghai, and Delhi. Additional industry research indicates that these measures will solidify FMO's position as an important regional airport for northwestern Germany and the neighboring Netherlands, with passenger numbers projected to grow in the single-digit percentage range by 2026.
To coincide with the new flight schedule, the airport will host a travel fair in the terminal building on January 24 and 25, 2026. Visitors can learn about available offers from tourism organizations and travel agencies. The fair will also include a model-making exhibition and guided tours of the apron to promote interest in aviation among the local population. The airport will offer special incentives, such as parking vouchers, for bookings made directly on-site. These marketing measures are part of a strategy to increase customer loyalty in the Westphalia and Emsland regions and to ensure high passenger numbers on the new routes from the outset.
