Vienna Airport welcomes the end of 3G controls when entering Austria and calls for a Europe-wide uniform regulation on the obligation to wear masks in air traffic.
In Austria, all entry restrictions imposed due to the pandemic have been lifted. As of today, 3-G proof is no longer required upon entry. For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, holidaymakers, those returning from travel and other visitors from all over the world can enter the country without restrictions. The new entry regulation issued by the Ministry of Health came into force at midnight.
For two years now, the Austrian Armed Forces, border police officers and the Bruck an der Leitha district authority have been making enormous efforts to check travelers arriving daily at the airport as part of the COVID-19 entry controls. Without this active and conscientious commitment, the implementation of this ordinance would not have been possible and we would like to express our thanks to the authorities mentioned and their committed employees. We very much welcome the fact that these entry controls are no longer necessary as of today - this helps the travel industry and passengers and is an important signal for the return to freedom of travel, especially with regard to the upcoming holiday season. It would now be important to have uniform Europe-wide regulations on the obligation to wear masks in air traffic and to avoid a new international patchwork quilt through different national regulations," say Julian Jäger and Günther Ofner, board members of Flughafen Wien AG.
