With new and resumed flight connections from Saudia, EVA Air, Etihad and Air Canada, the first impulses are already noticeable.

Vienna Airport supports the federal government's decision to relax the entry requirements for travelers from third countries with effect from July 1, 2021. From this point in time, fully vaccinated travelers from third countries (from 14 days after the second vaccination) may enter Austria quarantine-free. “This is an important and necessary step that gives the tourism and aviation industries a sigh of relief. The airlines are already reacting and expanding their flight offers: Saudia, EVA Air, Etihad and Air Canada will resume connections to Vienna in July 2021. This means that the medium and long-haul routes from Vienna are becoming denser again. Regional and urban tourism throughout Austria will benefit from this, ”says Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.

The new entry regulation creates important prerequisites for the comeback of medium and long-haul connections to Vienna: Austrian Airlines, Air China, Emirates, Ethiopian and Qatar Airways already serve medium and long-haul connections from third countries to Vienna and benefit from the simplified entry regulations. As of July 2021, several airlines will resume flight connections from third countries to Vienna with Saudia from Riyadh and Jiddah, EVA Air from Taipei, Etihad from Abu Dhabi and Air Canada from Toronto.
