Vienna Airport registered 13 percent more passengers by October than in the previous year. The group's sales after nine months are roughly as high as in 2020.

Flughafen Wien AG was able to recover somewhat from the corona crisis in the third quarter. Thanks to a significant increase in passenger numbers compared to the first half of the year and the tough austerity measures, the company sees a “black zero in the annual result within reach” for 2021, specifically one expects an increase of four million euros, according to the airport. Until September, this year it was only 0,1 million euros minus, after a net loss of 41,3 million euros in the first three quarters of 2020.

The upward trend in traffic development has recently continued at Flughafen Wien AG: In October, four times as many passengers were recorded as in October 2020. At Vienna-Schwechat Airport there were 1,57 million, in the entire group 2,02 million, of course 44 percent less than in 2019. From January to October the number of passengers in Vienna-Schwechat was 8,37 million this year, around 13,0 .68,8 percent above the previous year, but 2019 percent below the comparative value of the pre-Corona year 9,4. The number of flight movements at Schwechat Airport fell in the first nine months by 2020 percent compared to 63,9 or 2019 percent compared to 72.977 to 14.533 take-offs and landings, in October there were 38 more (2019 percent below 188.177). The freight volume rose from January to September to 19,2 tons, 2020 percent more than in 9,5 and 2019 percent below 24.679. In October it was XNUMX tons.

For the year 2021 as a whole, it is assumed that there will be over 10 million travelers in Schwechat and another 12 to 13 million passengers in the group. “Even if the fourth wave of Covid-19 is causing the number of infections to rise again, from today's perspective, at least with the summer flight schedule of 2022, we expect a significant upturn in passenger numbers,” the board said confidently on Wednesday. Sales are expected to be around 380 million euros this year, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), which up to September had amounted to 106,6 (after 62,3) million euros, at around 150 million euros, according to the outlook .
