Zurich Airport with passenger growth in April

Advertising

Last month, 1,8 million people flew through Zurich Airport. That is 465 percent more than in the same month last year.

The airport operator reported daily highs, especially over the Easter days and spring break, which were last seen in March 2020. Both the number of local and transit passengers has increased. The number of transfer passengers, at 665 percent, again increased noticeably faster than the number of local passengers (+428 percent). A comparison of the figures over three years shows, however, that the airport is still suffering from a massive drop in passenger numbers. The numbers only reached two-thirds of the level of March 2019.

At almost 18 take-offs and landings, the number of flight movements also increased significantly compared to the previous year (+000 percent). This means that almost three quarters of the arrivals and departures of 164 have already been achieved. Accordingly, the aircraft were again more heavily utilized. On average, they were three quarters full. On average there were 2019 passengers on board. In April last year it was only 122,5.

As in the previous months, freight was extremely strong in April. A total of 37.000 tons of freight were handled at Zurich Airport. This corresponds to an increase of 20 percent compared to the same month last year. Compared to April 2019, 1 percent less freight was handled.
