On September 15, 1992, the Vienna Airport Friends Association was entered in the register of associations – exactly 30 years later, the association at Vienna Airport celebrated its anniversary. In addition to Vienna Airport, the well-wishers and celebratory gestures included many airline representatives.

Club members and visitors from the partner clubs from the federal states as well as airline representatives, partners and sponsors came to this festival to celebrate the three decades of existence of the aviation-related club. Kurt Hofmann, respected aviation journalist and long-time friend of the association, gave a speech and Peter Kleemann, spokesman for Vienna Airport, took the opportunity to congratulate and emphasized the always good connection between Vienna Airport and the airport friends. "During my time at the airport, I experienced the Flughafenfreunde Wien as a very enthusiastic and loyal community and every company could only wish to have such a fan base. We have experienced good and less good times together at Vienna Airport. Especially in times that are not so easy, it is important to have a strong community behind you.”

Thomas Gamharter, Head of Visitor World, also congratulated the club on its anniversary and presented the surprise gifts from Vienna Airport: not only is a bench on the visitor terrace dedicated to the club - it will be dedicated to the club at a later date when Office Park 5 also a place named after the Vienna Airport Friends. In addition, the club was given a banner with the new club logo.

The anniversary celebration was also the perfect opportunity to honor long-standing members and supporters of the association: Michael Tmej and Thomas Simandl were awarded honorary membership of Flughafenfreunde Wien during the ceremony. Unfortunately, Thomas Posch was unable to attend his ceremony in person and sent a video greeting. Former chairman Martin Dichler, who was also present, sums it up: “It was not always easy to represent the interests of the association and to open doors. But there were always supporters who were interested in us, and with a strong team behind me, a lot was possible.” The guests were able to end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere and a cozy get-together. The incumbent chairman Gernot Kastner and the rest of the board team were pleased about the lively participation in the event: “We are pleased that the interest in aviation is still great and that our association is very popular. I would like to say a big thank you to Vienna Airport, whose support and good cooperation we greatly appreciate.”
