The low-cost airline from the United Arab Emirates will start with two daily flights between Dubai International and Tel Aviv from November 26, 2020. FlyDubai is following the recent diplomatic thaw between the two countries, which among other things have signed an air transport agreement to facilitate bilateral travel for business customers and Allow tourists. "Since launching flydubai 11 years ago, we have been committed to breaking down travel barriers, creating the free flow of trade and tourism, and improving connectivity between cultures in our network," said flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith. The aim is also to offer Israeli airline passengers a time-saving option for onward flights via Dubai to India, the Far East and the African continent.

The states of Israel and the United Arab Emirates, which had been enemies for decades, only signed a peace treaty that was recognized worldwide in September 2020. Political observers rate this agreement, which was negotiated with the support of the USA, as a trailblazer for future financial and armaments deals. As part of the negotiations, Israel is said to have agreed to the acquisition of the most modern American-made military aircraft by the Emirates in order to ensure better protection for merchant and tanker ships in the Persian Gulf against bilateral disputes with Iran. In return, an investment company from the Emirates participated in a billion-dollar Israeli research project to combat Covid-19.
