The state-owned airline Flydubai is expanding its European flight network and reactivating important seasonal and year-round connections in German-speaking countries. From June 27, 2026, the airline from the United Arab Emirates will once again operate the route between its home hub in Dubai and Salzburg Airport.
During the peak summer season until September 6th, three weekly flights are scheduled on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In the subsequent autumn season, the frequency will be reduced to two weekly flights, operating on Thursdays and Saturdays. Salzburg Airport thus benefits from its reconnection to the international route network in the Middle East, which is particularly important for regional inbound tourism and business travelers.
In addition to its connection to Austria, Flydubai also announced its return to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The route to the tri-border region will be reactivated on October 2nd and will continue throughout the following winter flight season until spring 2027. Four weekly flights are planned, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. For these medium- and long-haul flights, the airline will use modern Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which feature both Business and Economy Class cabins. Through cooperation and a codeshare agreement with its sister company Emirates, passengers from Basel and Salzburg will have extensive connecting options to global destinations in Asia, Africa, and Australia.
To increase its appeal to international transit passengers, the airline is also introducing a new service program. The so-called "Complimentary Dubai Stopover Program" allows eligible passengers traveling through the Dubai hub to enjoy a complimentary 24-hour hotel stay. This strategic measure aims to strengthen transit traffic at Dubai International Airport and make layovers more comfortable for passengers. The program is part of the airline's efforts to differentiate itself from other Gulf carriers by offering additional long-haul services.
