The Saudi Arabian low-cost airline Flynas is planning to significantly expand its fleet and has sent a tender for 30 wide-body jets to aircraft manufacturers.

Flynas boss Bander Almohanna announced this during a conference in Riyadh. The new aircraft are part of the fleet expansion as part of the country’s “Vision 2030” growth plan. Additionally, Almohanna confirmed that the airline would like to hold its IPO later in 2024.

To date, Flynas' fleet includes four Airbus A330-300s for long-haul flights and Airbus A320 and A320neo for short- and medium-haul flights. The order for A321neo, including the XLR variant, indicates the intention to further expand the route network and enter new markets.

Flynas' plans to offer long-haul flights were discussed back in 2019, with the Airbus A330neo and Boeing 787 seen as potential options. However, a previous A350 order was placed in 2014.

Flynas' expansion demonstrates Saudi Arabia's commitment to strengthening its aviation industry and positioning the country as a key player in the global aviation market.
