The Armenian airline Flyone Armenia operated its inaugural flight on the new direct route between Vienna and Yerevan on April 3, 2026. With this move, the airline enters the Austrian market for the first time and significantly expands its existing flight offerings between Central Europe and the Caucasus.
The route will initially be served once a week. However, the flight schedule already includes an increase in frequency from June 2026, after which the Armenian capital will be served three times a week from Vienna. An Airbus A320, which has a standard capacity of 180 seats, will be used on this route.
With the market entry of Flyone Armenia, the total capacity on the route between Vienna-Schwechat Airport and Yerevan will increase to ten weekly rotations in the coming summer months. In addition to the new operator, established airlines such as Austrian Airlines already serve the route regularly. Industry experts see the expansion of services as a response to growing economic ties and increasing interest in Armenia as a tourist destination. Yerevan is considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and serves as a central hub for business travel as well as a starting point for tours in the Armenian Highlands.
Vienna Airport considers the new connection a strategically valuable addition to its route network to the east. The improved accessibility is intended not only to boost outbound tourism from Europe but also to strengthen inbound traffic from Armenian travelers to Austria. Yerevan offers significant cultural attractions, including landmarks such as Republic Square and the Cascade Complex. Furthermore, the city serves as a gateway to the region's historic monasteries and mountain landscapes. Flyone Armenia, a subsidiary of the Moldovan airline Flyone, aims to further expand its market share in the European short- and medium-haul segment with this expansion to Vienna.
Vienna benefits economically from the increased connectivity, as Yerevan is gaining importance as a destination for investment in the technology and service sectors. Flights are handled at Terminal 3 in Vienna, with flight times tailored to the needs of leisure and business travelers. The planned increase in frequencies during the peak summer season is expected to stabilize prices on this route, intensifying competition among airlines. Flyone Armenia's Airbus A320 offers a classic cabin configuration adapted to the requirements of modern point-to-point connections.
