Pepper spray caused uncomfortable scenes on board the Monday before the start of United Airlines flight UA1061. However, there is no evidence of any malice on the part of a passenger. Rather, the authorities assume that an unfavorable coincidence led to the container being triggered.

The pepper spray was simply overlooked at the security checkpoint. Actually, this shouldn't have been taken on board. This mishap had unpleasant consequences for the passengers and the crew, because the content of the repellent leaked during the preparations for take-off for reasons that were still unclear. The result was that the passengers and cabin crew members had significant breathing problems.

According to the police authority, the pepper spray should not have been sprayed on purpose, but rather have set up on its own. The owner could have accidentally triggered this by moving around on the seat. When asked, United Airlines told Aviation Direct: “On Monday, United Flight 1061 from Fort Myers, Florida, to Newark, New Jersey, returned to the gate prior to takeoff due to a disruptive incident with a customer. Soon afterwards the flight was safely flying to Newark. "

Passengers appeared to be short of breath

The presentation of United Airlines is a bit glossing over, because according to local media reports, some passengers had to leave the plane due to acute breathing difficulties. The aircraft was then intensively "ventilated" for around two hours to make the flight to Newark reasonably bearable. Individual guests are said to have strictly refused to re-enter the affected machine.

The TSA admitted that the security check wanted to overlook the pepper spray. This was on a kind of chain on a passenger's garment. He did not deny the incident and was particularly badly affected. He suspects that he has got stuck on the seat or that some movement inadvertently triggered the spray.

Nevertheless, the matter could have expensive consequences for the perpetrator, because the executive branch initiated an investigation. Pepper sprays are also not allowed on board in the United States. The fact that the TSA made a mistake at the security checkpoint does not have any mitigating effect. However, the passenger could be interpreted in a relieving manner that there was no harmful intention, that he himself was severely affected and that he confesses extensively and is cooperative.
