The number of passengers at Frankfurt Airport increased by 76,5 percent in July compared to the same month last year to 5,02 million passengers.

For the first time since the outbreak of the CoV pandemic, more than 5 million passengers flew through Frankfurt Airport in one month, as the airport operator Fraport announced. The “dynamic upward trend” thus continued – despite the ground staff’s strike at the end of July. This reduced the number of passengers by around 100.000 travelers. However, the monthly value is still 27,4 percent below the passenger numbers of July 2019. In the period from January to July, the number of passengers rose by 177 percent to 25,8 million.

All airports in the international Fraport portfolio also achieved significant growth in July and in the seven-month period.

However, the air freight business continued to decline and was 18,1 percent below the same month in 2021. The airspace restrictions caused by the Ukraine war and comprehensive corona protection measures in China are having a negative effect. The number of flight movements increased by 26,9 percent to 35.005 take-offs and landings. The sum of the maximum take-off weights increased by 31,9 percent to over 2,2 million tons (in each case compared to July 2021).
