The US American Delta Air Lines took on pure cargo flights between the United States and Europe and India. According to the announcement, this is a response to increased customer demand. An Airbus A330 long-haul jet will be used from Atlanta and New York JFK to Mumbai via Frankfurt am Main.

The flights carry urgently needed pharmaceuticals and vaccines, as well as medical goods and general cargo. Delta operates the route between JFK and Frankfurt three times a week - the connection between Atlanta and the Main metropolis twice. In addition, there are pure cargo flights between Dublin and New York-JFK with an Airbus A330-300 three times a week. Last but not least, the company has started daily connections between Madrid and New York-JFK with a Boeing 767-400 to transport goods from the fashion industry to the USA for the Christmas season.

“In view of the travel restrictions within Europe, we are strategically expanding our freight capacities in Germany, Ireland and Spain,” comments Shawn Cole, Vice President Cargo at Delta. “Due to the corona pandemic, we are seeing high demand for pharmaceutical goods from India. With our connections we get vital supply chains to the USA. "

Delta Cargo started freight charter in March to offer safe and reliable transport of goods worldwide. The airline works with Delta's proven logistics partners who are considered to be global leaders. For its freight services, the airline used unused aircraft to quickly and safely transport large quantities of supplies. As a result, Delta has been able to operate more than 1.600 cargo flights since February and currently offers an average of 20 pure cargo connections worldwide per week. In total, Delta transports 421.000 tons of freight around the world every year.
