Frankfurt Misses Anti-Skid Coating on Runway Northwest

Frankfurt am Main Airport has to temporarily close the north-west runway for maintenance between May 16 and 31, 2023. Rubber abrasion left by aircraft tires is removed. At the same time, a so-called anti-skid coating is applied.

"We are using the anti-skid surface for the first time in our railway system," says Axel Konrad, construction project management at Fraport. "With this type of coating, we will reduce future maintenance intervals and save up to 25 percent on de-icing agent, especially in the cold winter months."
