Around 840 flight attendants will lose their jobs in October 2020. A move to the United States should, however, be possible.
United Airlines will close the crew bases in Frankfurt am Main, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The US carrier is closing three of four locations where flight attendants are employed outside the United States. However, London should be preserved.
In a Reuters The present circular from Cabin Chief John Slater states that the closings will effectively take place on October 1, 2020. About 840 flight attendants are affected, and they should have the opportunity to move to the USA if they want to and if they can formally meet the official requirements.
