Just before Christmas, of all places, there is a risk of chaos at Frankfurt Airport, because the Verdi union has called on the employees of the ground handler Wisag to stoppage. The warning strike is due to take place on Wednesday.

Wisag holds around 15 percent of the handling volume at Germany's largest airport. This is not the first industrial action, as delays and cancellations occurred as early as October 2021 due to a warning strike. This time there should be no demonstration, because the Verdi union only wants to carry out work stoppages in view of the current Corona situation.

The fronts between the employee representatives and management have hardened for some time. The union wants working hours to be reduced to 37,5 hours and full wage compensation to take place at the same time. The Wisag company considers the demands to be excessive and points out that they have offered 18 percent wage increases over a period of three years. The warning strike is believed to be irresponsible and inappropriate.
