Not only Air France, but all airlines are affected. The country wants numerous routes to be served by TGV instead of by plane in the future.

The French government is now making it clear: In future, all airlines will no longer be allowed to offer short domestic flights. Previously, the rescue of the domestic Air France was only accepted under certain conditions - among other things, the package contained strict environmental requirements.

All measures are there to make the airline more environmentally friendly in the future. A pure flight within France may no longer be offered if the destination can also be reached in 2,5 hours by train. There is one exception, however: Those who only make a short stopover to catch a connecting flight are exempt from this rule, as is the case Reisetopia.de reported.
