France: Volotea expands to Algeria

The Spanish low-cost airline Volotea announces extensive expansion in the direction of Algeria. From three French airports, a total of eight new routes are to be added from September. Most were previously operated by Aigle Azur, which had to cease flight operations in September 2019.

At the same time, Volotea is competing with Air Algerie because, with the exception of Marseille-Sétif, all routes can be found in the Algerian carrier's route network. For the Spanish low-cost airline, the routes could be quite advantageous, because the distances are comparatively short, which is generally beneficial for low-cost airlines, as more rounds per day per aircraft are possible.
