It is clear that the airports will incur losses in the Corona year. The question that still arises: How red are the numbers on the bottom line? The Frankfurt airport operator Fraport posted a loss of 304 million euros in the third quarter.

The slump in passenger traffic in the CoV crisis and the planned job cuts pushed the airport even deeper into the red than feared. The expenses for the planned reduction of thousands of jobs alone burdened the company with 280 million euros. In the comparison year, the company listed in the MDax recorded a profit of 222 million euros, as announced on Wednesday.

“The situation in the industry is still very tense. With the renewed Europe-wide increase in the number of infections in recent weeks, travel restrictions have also increased significantly again. The airlines are further reducing their already low offer. We do not expect a recovery until the coming summer flight schedule at the earliest, ”says Stefan Schulte, CEO of Fraport AG.
