Fraport AG is reorganizing its subsidiary Fraport Security Services GmbH. With effect from July 1, 2021, the operational business areas of aviation security, airport security and services were merged for a specific purpose and spun off into three newly founded subsidiaries.

As a result, the control services in accordance with Section 5 of the Aviation Security Act are carried out by FraSec Luftsicherheit GmbH. Those who fall under Paragraphs 8 and 9 as well as classic security tasks are now performed by FraSec Airport Security GmbH. The agendas from the service area are now part of FraSec Services GmbH.

The tasks and personnel of the central departments and the FraSec Academy remain in the parent company FraSec Fraport Security Services GmbH. The new subsidiaries are initially 100 percent owned by FraSec Fraport Security Services GmbH. However, the new corporate structure offers the possibility of cooperation in order to further strengthen the respective area where it makes sense.

“The corona pandemic has forced many companies, especially in the aviation industry, to question their own structures and business models. We have therefore dealt very intensively with the question of how the company can be made strategically meaningful and future-proof. The restructuring of the FraSec group of companies is an essential step in order to meet the responsibility towards our approximately 4.000 employees and to ensure the profitability and competitiveness of the entire group of companies in the long term, ”explains Martin Budweth, CEO of FraSec.

In addition, the reorganization became necessary, among other things, due to the takeover of control in the area of passenger controls, which was decided between Fraport AG and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs (BMI). From January 1, 2023, the airport operator will take over control in the area of passenger controls and thus also the selection and commissioning of security service providers. In order to counteract FraSec's exclusion from competition law, the reorganization had to create the necessary structures for possible partnerships at an early stage.

The two FraSec managing directors Martin Budweth and Frank Haindl are also the managing directors of the three new subsidiaries. With effect from July 1, 2021, the individual companies within the FraSec Group will each be supplemented by an additional management member. Nicole Ebner takes over the management of FraSec Luftsicherheit GmbH. Ruth Evers becomes managing director of FraSec Airport Security GmbH and Sascha Marx complements the management of FraSec Services GmbH.
