On Friday evening there was a premiere in Freiburg, because the Mönchengladbach football team landed with a Dornier 328. The special feature: the runway is located almost directly next to the Europapark stadium.

The background is that those responsible had agreed in advance that the sports facility would be built near a small airfield. Borussia Mönchengladbach was the first guest team on Friday to use it to travel to the away match. The distance to the stadium is practically just a symbolic stone's throw.

The "City Airport Freiburg" carries the ICAO code EDTF and is mainly used by general aviation. International air traffic usually uses the much larger EuroAirport, which is located on French territory.
