IHK President Martin Buck and Mayor Simon Blümcke interpreted the landing of the first aircraft from Düsseldorf as a visible sign of a renewed sense of optimism. Air Uniqon, contrary to what its name might suggest, is not an airline, but a company that charters aircraft and markets the seats on its own account. Colloquially, such structures are also called "virtual airlines." The operating carrier is the established airline Avanti Air.

The flights will be operated with a proven aircraft type used in regional charter and scheduled airlines. The Dash 8-400 offers seating for 78 passengers and, due to its design, is particularly well-suited for short-haul flights from regional airports. With a flight time of less than 90 minutes each way, the aircraft offers a significant time saving, giving it a decisive advantage in direct competition with other modes of transport. The flight schedule calls for Berlin and Düsseldorf to be served four times a week each, while Hamburg is scheduled three times a week.

The pricing model starts at an entry-level price of €99 for a one-way flight in the Basic fare.
