The Austrian railway company Westbahn plans to run up to five times a day from Vienna to Innsbruck and back from December 11, 2022. This emerges from a train path application published by the rail control authority.

Only recently did the Westbahn expand its main route from Vienna to Salzburg extended to Munich Hbf. As of June 12, 2022, traffic will be increased further to the city of Mozart, and from August up to six daily trains will travel to Munich and back. In the summer of 2022, the private railway operator will run between Vienna and Salzburg - with just a few gaps - every half hour.

If the train paths requested by Westbahn are approved, from 11 December 2022 there will be up to five trains from Vienna Westbahnhof to Innsbruck. Intermediate stops are made in Hütteldorf, St. Pölten, Amstetten, Linz, Wels, Attnang-Puchheim, Vöcklabruck, Salzburg, Kufstein and Wörgl. Six-car Stadler Kiss 3 with 506 seats, divided into three classes, will be used as the vehicle.
