Vienna Airport is expanding its international route network in summer 2025: From June 3, the Asian airline Scoot will offer direct flights between Vienna and Singapore for the first time. The new connection, which will be operated three times a week with a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, is a significant step towards strengthening economic and tourist relations between Europe and Southeast Asia.

With the introduction of this long-awaited long-haul connection, Vienna will be connected to Changi Airport in Singapore, one of Asia's most important transport hubs, for the first time without a transfer. The route is intended to open up new opportunities not only for tourists, but also for business travelers. Singapore, known for its economic strength and cultural diversity, is considered a gateway to numerous destinations in Asia. Austrian companies will also benefit from better accessibility to the flourishing markets of Southeast Asia and the Australian continent.

Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG, emphasizes the importance of the new connection: "This direct connection strengthens our hub function and creates new perspectives for economic and tourist networking. We are delighted to welcome Scoot as a partner."

Scoot: An emerging airline

Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has established itself as a reliable and innovative airline since its inception in 2012. With a modern fleet, including the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, and a route network covering over 70 destinations in 18 countries, Scoot offers travelers an affordable and comfortable flight experience. The merger with Tigerair Singapore in 2017 further accelerated the airline's growth.

Calvin Chan, Chief Commercial Officer of Scoot, commented on the route launch: "This new route brings the vibrant culture of Southeast Asia closer to Eastern Europe. We look forward to welcoming our passengers on board and providing them with unforgettable travel experiences."

flight schedule and details

Singapore: A fascinating travel destination

The city-state of Singapore, one of Asia's leading metropolises, combines modern urbanity with a rich cultural heritage. The main attractions include the futuristic "Gardens by the Bay", the world-famous Marina Bay Sands and the historic Chinatown. Singapore is also an important financial and logistics hub, which makes the new flight connection particularly attractive for business travelers.

Norbert Kettner, Managing Director of Vienna Tourist Board, sees great potential in the connection: "Singapore is one of the economically strongest regions in Asia. This connection strengthens our airport as a hub and makes Vienna even more attractive for international events and congresses."

The introduction of this route marks an important step in the long-term development of Vienna Airport and offers travellers new opportunities to explore Southeast Asia. It is also further evidence of Vienna's growing importance as an international hub.
