The European business aviation industry is facing a significant change: Tyrolean Jet Services (TJS), the Austrian operator of exclusive business aircraft, will soon be taken over by the British group Gama Aviation.
The transaction, which has been speculated for some time, has now been officially confirmed by both companies and is close to completion. The acquisition is a strategic move that will not only strengthen Gama Aviation's expansion in Europe, but also ensure the continued growth and preservation of Tyrolean Jet Services' tradition.
A traditional company in transition
Tyrolean Jet Services, based in Innsbruck, is one of the oldest and most respected providers of business jet services in Austria. The company was founded in 1978 and was until recently owned by the Swarovski family, the owners of the world-famous jewelry brand. For several years now, control has been held by R. Schwarz Holding, a renowned investment company active in various industries.
The Tyrolean Jet Services fleet comprises seven aircraft, all of which are registered in the Austrian registry. These include a Citation Jet 1+, two Citation Jet 2s, a Citation XLS+, a Falcon 900EX, a Global 5000 and a Phenom 300E. These models serve a niche in the business jet segment and stand for efficiency, comfort and safety. Tyrolean Jet Services has made a name for itself by looking after an exclusive clientele and the high quality of its services.
A strong partner with a global presence
Gama Aviation, based in Farnborough, UK, is a global provider of business aircraft management, charter services, maintenance and engineering services. The company has grown steadily in recent years and holds Air Operator Certificates in both the UK and the United Arab Emirates. By acquiring Tyrolean Jet Services, Gama Aviation is strengthening its presence in Europe and opening up new opportunities to benefit from the Austrian company's established infrastructure and high standards.
Graham Williamson, Managing Director of Gama Aviation, stressed in a statement that there is no intention of abandoning the Tyrolean Jet Services brand. "Our aim is to preserve the history and standards of Tyrolean Jet Services," said Williamson. This statement underlines Gama Aviation's commitment to respect the tradition and heritage of the Austrian company and to use it as a model for the group's other aircraft management and charter brands.
The strategy behind the takeover
The integration of Tyrolean Jet Services into the Gama Aviation portfolio offers strategic advantages for both parties. For Gama Aviation, the acquisition is a significant step to position itself more strongly in the European market while gaining access to an exclusive clientele and a well-established infrastructure. By joining the Gama Group, Tyrolean Jet Services will gain access to a wider range of services and global networks, offering customers even greater flexibility and reach.
Another advantage of the takeover is that Tyrolean Jet Services will retain its independence despite being integrated into an international holding company. This is ensured in particular by maintaining the existing air operator certificate and brand, which is seen as a positive signal in the industry.
