Easyjet plans to fly 2022 aircraft from London Gatwick Airport in the summer flight schedule of 79. The competitor British Airways earns money on some flights. This is made possible by an agreement between the two companies.

You can lease pretty much anything: copiers, cars, planes and even take-off and landing rights at Gatwick Airport. Easyjet boss Johan Lundgren stated in the course of the presentation of the latest financial figures that slots from competitor British Airways will be leased from the beginning of the summer flight planning period 2022. The agreement is said to be of “medium term” but the manager did not address questions regarding the actual duration. The consequence of this, however, is that Easyjet will pay British Airways to use the BA slots.

Lundgren is currently assuming that the take-off and landing rights leased from British Airways can be used with their own aircraft. Wetlease equipment will also be rented for the expansion, so that a total of 2022 aircraft will fly from Gatwick for Easyjet in the summer of 79. Before the corona pandemic, 63 units were in use.
