The Wizz Air Group intends to significantly expand its presence at London Gatwick Airport. So it is very fitting that 15 pairs of slots that were previously held by Norwegian were for sale. Wizz Air UK has had a base on site since October 2020.

Group boss Jozsef Varadi comes in handy because he has repeatedly criticized in the past that unused slots have not (yet) been re-allocated due to the corona pandemic. The Gatwick base is to be expanded by one machine to five Airbus A320neo.

The acquisition of airport slots at Gatwick Airport will allow us to improve our presence and competitive position in the London market. We are continuing to grow our business in the UK and we are committed to making air travel affordable for everyone. The 2022 season has the potential to be a great opportunity for UK aviation to get back on its feet.
