Geneva: Bus operator gives up copied Swiss logo

A bus company from Geneva and the airline Swiss have had a dispute over the logo. The name “Swiss Tours” was used to advertise excursions on buses. The problem: the color and the font looked very similar.

According to a report in the Aargauer Zeitung, the airline first criticized this fact in spring 2020. However, the corona pandemic initially meant that the matter was not pursued with priority. The buses weren't on the road anyway and most of the Swiss planes were on the ground.

The airline has now succeeded in getting the coach operator to change the logo. The name Swiss is still included, but it now clearly stands out from that of the airline. The mere component “Swiss” is likely to be very difficult to protect, unless it is about an airline.

The carrier confirmed to the newspaper that Swisstours Transport had turned in after an “exchange” and changed the logo. It has already been changed on the homepage and the buses will also appear in a new appearance at the next opportunity. The coach operator concerned did not want to comment publicly on the matter.
