An Embraer E190LR with the registration D-AWSI from German Airways will in future carry the livery of the reigning European football champion Frankfurt Galaxy from the Main metropolis.

Parent company Zeitfracht recently joined the team and aims to make this sport even better known in this country. "Football is the most popular sport in the USA and is also gaining ground in Europe," the charter airline said in a press release.

“There are already airplanes in all kinds of football liveries, football is new. Therefore, the new flying appearance of Frankfurt Galaxy will be even more spectacular in the future. We'll be cruising across Europe in signature Galaxy purple. We have great role models: In the USA, for example, the New England Patriots football club from Foxborough near Boston has its “own” aircraft,” says Maren Wolters, Managing Director of German Airways.

The German airlines are not only good at football: With the Frankfurt Galaxy jet, there is now another “master transporter” in the Main metropolis. The reigning winner of the soccer Euroleague Eintracht Frankfurt trusts in the "flying eagle" of the Sun Express. The maiden flight for the jet in the new livery will be this weekend's away game for the Galactics in Wroclaw.
