In Austria, Globista is a new player in the online brokerage of package tours. Behind the brand is the German Funke Media Group, which has been active in this segment with Funke One GmbH in Germany since 2018.

The daily newspaper Kurier, in which the company holds a stake, acts as a cooperation partner in Austria. The first travel dates begin in September 2022. First of all, it is a trial market entry, because you want to evaluate the response in Austria at a later date and then decide whether you will expand further.

The fact that companies from outside the industry are actually getting into the web brokerage of package tours or at least letting their name be used for this is nothing new. For example, Rewe has been offering such a service for many years under the Billa Reisen and Penny Reisen brands. Competitors Lidl and Hofer have comparable products on the market. Daily newspapers also cooperate time and again with tour operators.
