The Brazilian airline Gol is the world's first carrier to use the Boeing 737 Max commercially again. The local aviation authority only lifted the flight ban at the end of November 2020. For the time being, the Max should only fly inland.

The seven copies that Gol already has in the fleet are to be gradually reactivated by the end of the year. For the restart, the approximately 140 pilots have undergone special training in the United States, the carrier said in a media broadcast. Gol expects the delivery of 95 more Boeing 737 Max.

The first commercial flight after more than 20 months of forced grounding was on the Sao Paulo-Porto Alegre route on Wednesday. For Europe, EASA has already published an airworthiness directive, so that a re-approval can be expected in January 2021. The FAA has already given the go-ahead. The civil aviation authority of China, which wants to wait for the results of the investigation of the two fatal crashes, is waiting.
