For the first time in its history, Graz Airport has to change the name of the runway. The background is that the magnetic north pole is shifting further and further. It is a natural phenomenon.
The only runway is currently called 17/35. In the coming year this will change to 16/34. As a result, a lot has to be changed. For example, approach charts have to be redesigned or printed. Physically, the new digits will be applied to the surface of the runway shortly before the change is “activated”.
