On Monday, September 19, 2022, the airline Eurowings will reactivate the non-stop connection between Stuttgart and Graz, which is currently on hold. It is currently planned to fly on the traffic days Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

This route was once one of the so-called decentralized routes operated by Austrian Airlines. Some time ago it was decided that Graz-Stuttgart and Graz-Düsseldorf as well as Linz-Düsseldorf would be handed over to the sister company Eurowings. In the past, AUA usually flew with de Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft. Because of the corona pandemic, the Stuttgart route had to be repeatedly suspended.

The handover to Eurowings went smoothly in terms of flight operations, but the pandemic and very strong fluctuations in demand made operation by Eurowings complicated. The carrier repeatedly postponed the first flight and then suspended the route several times. The Lufthansa subsidiary has not been flying on this route for several months.

That should change on Monday, because then Eurowings will fly between Stuttgart and Graz again. Graz Airport Manager Wolfgang Grimus: “Stuttgart is one of the economically most important cities in Europe and plays a major role above all, but not only, for the automotive industry. Baden-Württemberg is also an important incoming market for Styrian tourism. We are therefore very pleased to be able to offer a direct flight to this region again.”

Other German destinations that can be reached non-stop from Styria: Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Düsseldorf. At all four German airports it is possible to change to other Lufthansa Group flights. The Frankfurt and Munich hubs in particular are considered to be particularly important for the Graz economy.
