The Greek government is starting a four-stage "Corona traffic light", which is intended to provide information on the Internet about the current risk in the respective region. Residents and tourists can find out about the current situation in the 74 regions on a virtual map. The use is of course free of charge and possible without registration.
On the website covid19.gov.gr the map based on the traffic light can be viewed online. The four levels are defined as follows:
- green: low risk
- yellow: moderate risk (measure: observation)
- orange: high risk (measure: intensified observation)
- red: very high risk (measure: strict tightening of the corona measures)
Tip: Direct link to the Greek Corona traffic light map.
The government emphasizes that measures can be taken depending on the coloring of the respective region. In green areas, for example, bars, restaurants and cafes are closed at 1 am. If the traffic light is yellow, it must be closed half an hour earlier. At midnight orange. If the signal shows a red light, bars, restaurants and cafes are not allowed to open. However, pick-up and delivery services should still be made possible.
Important: A mask is required regardless of the color of the traffic lights in buildings, public transport and other places. If the signal is red, however, mouth and nose protection must be worn outdoors. This explicitly applies not only to residents, but also to tourists. If they are ignored, severe fines can flourish.
At the time of the presentation of the Greek Corona traffic light, 27 regions were colored green, 25 were yellow and 22 were orange. Not a single area was classified as red. The map and traffic light signals are to be updated every two weeks and are based, among other things, on the daily cases per 100.000 inhabitants.
The Greek government recommends that tourists inform themselves about the current measures on the official homepage before their entry and during their stay. The traffic light color currently has no influence on the entry requirements. It should be remembered that the form must be completed online in advance.
