Greece wants to start the tourist season on May 14, 2021. From this day, holidaymakers from EU countries as well as Serbia, Israel and the UK, among others, should be able to enter without quarantine. The announcement by Deputy Tourism Minister Sofia Zacharaki comes with a small but fine catch.
Only those who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus and can prove this are allowed to enter without restrictions. Alternatively, a negative test can be presented, but Greece insists that it must be a PCR result. In the case of vaccinated persons, the last dose must be given at least 14 days before entry.
Contrary to original announcements, vacationers from Israel must submit a negative PCR test even if a full vaccination is available. Due to a bilateral agreement, there is no quarantine when you return home. However, this can be a problem for travelers who fly home to Austria or Germany.
