Changed regulations regarding corona tests have been in effect in Greece since Monday. People who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 and want to go to restaurants or to their workplace, for example, must at least present a negative antigen result. The test has to be paid for by yourself and costs at least ten euros.
The Greek government has ordered, among other things, that most indoor public areas can only be entered if you have been vaccinated against Covid-19. If you don't, you need a negative test result. The costs for the rapid test are to be borne by yourself. Alternatively, negative PCR results are also recognized, although these are also subject to a charge.
With the measure, Greece wants to put pressure on people who have not yet been vaccinated. The approach is massively controversial within the EU member state and has already caused several large demonstrations in Athens and other major cities. The regulation applies to everyone, including expressly for tourists.
Important: On all domestic connections, regardless of whether they are by plane, ship, bus or train, unvaccinated persons must also present a negative corona test. The rapid antigen test costs at least ten euros and is no longer free. Vaccinated people do not need a test result.
Holidaymakers who want to use transport services or rooms that are subject to mandatory testing or vaccination must show their EU certificate. Proof of recovery is currently equivalent to proof of vaccination. In addition, an identity card or passport must be carried as proof of identity. Depending on the location or the transport company, the documents may have to be submitted online in advance.
