Greece divides travelers into two groups and carries out random corona tests. Whoever has been selected must be in quarantine. The result should be available after 24 hours at the latest.

From June 15, 2020, Greece will ease the entry requirements considerably. Passengers who are allowed to enter the country will in future be divided into two groups. In the first, corona tests can be carried out. Group B is fully tested.

Travelers from the following countries can be randomly subjected to a corona test when arriving at a Greek airport: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein , Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

Passengers from Albania, Belgium, France, Italy, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and other non-EU countries have to undergo a mandatory corona test at the entry control, regardless of whether they come non-stop from the countries mentioned or have switched in a country belonging to group A (see previous paragraph).

But this provision is not entirely uniform, because it is initially only practiced in this form in Athens. In Thessaloniki, all passengers are randomly tested for the corona virus. There are again different procedures for the island airports. However, it is uniform that every traveler must fill out a so-called “Passenger Locator Form” and hand it over to the authorities on arrival.

Those passengers who have been tested must leave an address where they can be reached and immediately go into self-isolation. The result should be available within 24 hours and the quarantine will be lifted immediately if the test is negative. If you change to a domestic flight in Athens, Thessaloniki or at another Greek airport, you can take it. The quarantine must then be started at the destination.

Travelers from the UK and Turkey are still prohibited from entering Greece until at least June 29, 2020.
