On Friday, September 2, 2022, Easyjet flight U28935, operated on the Airbus A320neo with registration G-UZHV, had to make an unscheduled stopover in Thessaloniki. A 22-year-old Briton is said to have gotten into an argument with several passengers and crew members on board.

The man is said to have been drunk and had to answer to an examining magistrate in Greece. This has ordered the pre-trial detention. The Unruly PAX is accused of endangering the safety of passengers and crew. The further procedure of the criminal prosecution is still unclear, but an indictment by the public prosecutor's office is to be expected.

Flight U28935 was en route from London Gatwick to Paphos. The man may have consumed a large amount of alcohol, as numerous empty bottles were found around his seat. He got into a heated argument with the crew and other passengers. The captain then decided to make an unscheduled landing to have the troublemaker removed. This also resulted in a several-hour delay in the flight from Paphos to Gatwick.

Easyjet said: “easyJet cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure the safety of the flight and other passengers is never compromised. While such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behavior towards our staff. The safety and welfare of passengers and crew is always our top priority.”
