In Spain, too, there is an acute shortage of personnel in the aviation industry. So far there have been no major irregularities. The ground handling subsidiary of Iberia is now reacting and is taking on 1.692 temporary workers for permanent employment.
Iberia Airport Services operates at numerous Spanish airports and handles the aircraft of the parent company, but also of other airlines. According to their own information, a total of 170 airlines are among their customers. Again and again, the company was caught in the crossfire of criticism, since for several years the focus has increasingly been on fixed-term employment contracts and temporary work.
According to the airline, this is about to change, as 1.692 temporary workers will be transferred to permanent employment at Iberia Airport Services for the time being. Those affected are to be transferred to permanent employment contracts that are subject to the respective collective agreement. The airline is thus responding to a long-standing demand by the unions and at the same time hopes to be able to counteract the gradual loss of staff.
