The union SEV-Gata, which represents parts of the Swiss ground staff, has filed a lawsuit against the Lufthansa subsidiary Swiss. The background is that the management has activated the so-called crisis collective labor agreement, which was negotiated in the course of the pandemic. 

However, the employee representatives are of the opinion that the prerequisites are no longer met. Among other things, the crisis GAV provides for lower wages. According to SEV-Gata, it would have been agreed that activation can only take place when Switzerland generally ends corona short-time work. Swiss left the labor market measure of its own free will and ended short-time work in early March 2022. According to the employee representatives, this would have been legally possible until the end of June 2022.

SEV-Gata accuses the management of wanting to maximize profits at the expense of the workforce. For example, in the area of ​​ground staff, 100 employees would first have been made redundant and then 50 new ones would have been hired at lower wage conditions. According to its own statements, Swiss has not yet received the complaint declared by the union and can therefore not comment on the allegations.
