Currently, the Bulgarian airline Gullivair specializes in providing ACMI and charter services. That could change because the carrier is checking to fly the ATR72-600 within Bulgaria.

Specifically, the first step is a non-stop connection between Ruse and the capital Sofia. First, however, the license of Ruse Airport, which has a 2.500 meter runway, has to be extended to larger machines. According to local media reports, appropriate preparations have already been initiated.

The expansion of the route network from Ruse is planned at a later date. Up to three ATR72-600s could be stationed in this Bulgarian city for this purpose. It is still unclear whether international connections are also planned. Ruse Airport has been in a kind of deep sleep for a long time due to a lack of demand. Local politicians want to change that with the help of Gullivair.
