Many North Germans are booking their first flight in more than two years, and in response to the high demand, the airlines are further expanding their services from Hamburg.

First and foremost Eurowings: out of a total of 115 direct destinations offered from Hamburg Airport in the summer, Eurowings has 60 destinations in its program – that’s more than ever before. With up to 350 departures per week, Eurowings wants to meet the increased demand at Hamburg Airport in the summer. The airport is also looking forward to the summer with up to 280.000 expected passengers per week. High peak loads make planning difficult for all system partners in air traffic.

“Many North Germans are looking forward to their first flight after more than two years. The very long dry spell seems to be over and we can once again look to the future with confidence. We are all the more pleased that we have a strong and reliable partner at our side in Eurowings. The Eurowings offer is even stronger this summer than before the crisis - so our passengers have a large selection for their long-awaited holiday trip," says Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO at Hamburg Airport.

According to its own information, Eurowings has had bookings at a consistently high level for weeks. The German airline focuses on holiday travelers and relies on popular sunny regions in Spain, Greece and Turkey. There are also cities in Europe such as Paris and Prague. In addition to Bilbao, Verona, Chania, Lisbon and Porto, the German airline is expanding its summer portfolio from Hamburg to include other destinations, including popular holiday destinations such as Alicante and Gothenburg in Sweden.
