The Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is expanding its presence at Hamburg Airport. From the end of November 2021, the number of weekly flights to Istanbul Sabiha-Gökçen Airport will be doubled. In addition, there are three flights a day to Istanbul Airport (IST) at the weekend.

In summer 2022, travelers can also expect a wide range of seasonal offers in Turkey, including a completely new destination on the Black Sea: the coastal city of Ordu. "Istanbul is not one of the most popular destinations from Hamburg Airport for nothing: The major airport, which was only opened in 2018, acts as a hub and offers our passengers an extensive selection of connecting flights, for example to Asia, Africa and other destinations in Turkey. But the metropolis with its historic buildings is also very popular with city travelers, ”says Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport. "The frequency is increased at exactly the right time: At the turn of the year, many families traditionally go home, and many northern German holidaymakers also like to spend the last days of the year in warmer regions."
