The consumer protection authority of the Balearic Islands has opened official proceedings against the low-cost airline Ryanair. The subject of the investigation is the regulation for hand luggage that has been in force since November 1, 2018. The carrier only allows you to take a small bag with you free of charge, which must not be larger than 40x20x25 centimeters.

FACUA, a Spanish consumer protection organization, brought numerous complaints to various authorities. According to their own statements, only the Balearic Islands have reacted so far. It is argued that the Ryanair regulation would violate various Spanish laws and regulations in the Balearic Islands.

The regional government has now asked Ryanair to comment. Then you want to announce the decision. If this is to the disadvantage of the low-cost airline, the latter can take legal action and the case would end up in court. Ryanair entered into similar trouble in Italy and received a hefty fine that is subject to legal action. The final has not yet been decided.
