The regional airline Helvetic Airways will welcome the first Embraer 25-E2021 in Zurich on Friday, June 195, 2. Three more units are to be delivered to the carrier by the end of July 2021.

The arrival of the new regional jets marks the timely conclusion of the fleet modernization program that the Swiss regional airline has been running since October 2019. Helvetic Airways will operate a total of four Embraer 195-E2s. The transfer of ownership of the first machine took place in Transfer of ownership at the headquarters of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer in São José dos Campos.

"With the delivery of the first of our four new Embraer E195-E2 machines, our fleet renewal, which should be completed by the end of July, is proceeding as planned," says Tobias Pogorevc, CEO of Helvetic Airways. “The structural change that has become apparent in the demand for air travel in recent months confirms our strategic decisions made in 2018. With Embraer, we have both the right aircraft types and the right partner. Helvetic Airways now operates a fleet mix that is optimal in terms of capacity and sustainability. As one of the world's leading E-Jet E2 operators, Helvetic Airways is now in a position to further strengthen its role as a Swiss airline in the European sky ”.

HB-AZI will leave the headquarters of Embraer in São José dos Campos on Thursday according to plan and arrive in Switzerland on Friday after stopovers in Natal and Las Palmas. The aircraft covers about 9900 kilometers for delivery; the expected flight time is approximately 11,5 hours.

First commercial flight on July 10, 2021 from Basel

"Thanks to the new E195-E2, Helvetic Airways is further expanding its reputation as one of the most ecologically committed airlines in Europe," explains Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation. “This aircraft not only uses 25 percent less fuel than its predecessor. Its noise level is also 65 percent lower. This is great news for the communities in the airport regions ”.

The Helvetic Airways fleet currently consists of four Embraer 190s that previously flew for Niki, eight E190-E2s and soon four E195-E2s. The new addition from Helvetic Airways will mainly fly to destinations within Europe. HB-AZI will make its first commercial flight on Saturday, July 10, 2021, from Basel to the Greek island of Santorini (flights 2L 306 and 2L 307).
