The Swiss airline Helvetic Airways is further expanding its innovative "Helvetic-WG" housing concept for its employees near Zurich Airport. Due to high demand, the airline has leased an additional 20 furnished studios in Opfikon. This now provides employees with a total of 64 rooms in shared apartments and studios at cost price.
Since the introduction of the "Helvetic-WG" in spring 2023, this housing option has proven to be a key factor in employee satisfaction and recruitment. Helvetic Airways thus stands out as the only airline to offer such a model to its employees. Previously, the "Helvetic-WG" comprised 44 rooms in twelve apartments. The recent expansion by 20 studios in Opfikon represents a rapid increase in the offering by around 50 percent.
The new studios in Opfikon, located in the immediate vicinity of Zurich Airport, are fully furnished and are aimed primarily at flight crew who require flexible living options due to their travel requirements, as well as maintenance employees who frequently work night shifts. This offer not only provides affordable housing close to the airport, but also promotes exchange and a sense of community among colleagues. Tobias Pogorevc, CEO of Helvetic Airways, emphasized that it is often difficult, especially for young or newly hired employees, to quickly find suitable accommodation near the airport. The "Helvetic shared apartment" offers an attractive solution that ideally combines work and everyday life and has generated great interest among employees.
The expansion of the "Helvetic-WG" is part of Helvetic Airways' long-term housing strategy aimed at specifically improving the quality of life and satisfaction of its employees. This concept has already been recognized internally and externally as exemplary and is now being systematically developed further. It underscores the airline's commitment to creating attractive working conditions and positioning itself as a modern employer in the aviation industry.
