Hi Fly Malta operated two Antarctic flights with the A340

Hi Fly, which specializes in providing ACMI and charter services, made two rounds to Antarctica. An Airbus A340-300 was used from Cape Town. This supplied the research stations with food, equipment and fuel, among other things.

The flights were operated on November 2, 2021 and November 4, 2021. The 9H-SOL operated by Hi Fly Malta was used. This was previously transferred from Beja, Portugal, to Cape Town. The four-jet engine then flew twice to Antarctica.

According to the client, an explicit search was made this time for an Airbus A340, as it can transport the required volume of equipment, food and fuel in just two flights. For example, the Boeing 757 would have had to make more rounds, which would ultimately have resulted in higher costs.

I coincidently tracked the flight when it was approaching CPT on the return leg. What a pleasant surprise.
Any idea when the next flights will be?
      Kind regards.
