The Turkish holiday airline Sunexpress was able to benefit from particularly high demand in traffic between Germany and Turkey this year. So far, around ten million passengers have been transported across the network.

It has now been announced that 2.000 additional flights will be launched by the end of this year. This is a response to the high demand in the direction of Anatolia and the Turkish Riviera. “The demand for trips to Turkey was higher than in 2019. In the first three quarters of 2023 we were able to achieve a occupancy rate of 88 percent. We also carried almost 10 million passengers, which is a new record for us. Nothing should stand in the way of our goal of bringing 12 million passengers to their desired destination by the end of the year,” emphasizes Managing Director Max Kownatzki.

SunExpress traditionally focuses on so-called VFR traffic (Visiting Friends and Relatives) as well as on holiday guests who would like to swap the dreary everyday life for a few days in sunny Turkey. A total of 26 new routes were added to the network this summer, ten of which were in the DACH region. The fleet has also grown enormously: SunExpress currently flies a total of 66 routes in 175 countries with 30 aircraft.
