On the part of the Lufthansa subsidiary Swiss, price increases due to the sharp rise in fuel costs can no longer be ruled out. Initially, it was assumed that these would remain constant depending on supply and demand.

In the last few days, however, Swiss' forecast has changed. A media spokesman told Travel Inside: “We would have to correct the statement that no price increases are planned. Due in particular to the current development of the price of crude oil, further price adjustments for air travel are likely this year”.

It is therefore to be expected that Swiss prices will soon increase. The extent to which the carrier has secured itself with fuel hedging transactions is currently unknown. As a rule, increases in fuel prices hit those carriers that hedge with a delay of around six months.
